Authorities are investigating a house fire on Greenville Road, near Jago Road, in Hopkinsville on Tuesday morning.
Hopkinsville Fire Department Spokesman Captain Payton Rogers says they were called by a passerby about smoke coming from the home, and found a fire in the living room and attic.
The fire caused significant damage to the structure, Rogers says, adding that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Rogers says the fire is belived to have been unintentional. Hopkinsville Police say they did locate a man in connection with the fire and took him to the police department during the investigation, but he was later returned home.
