Trigg County Republican Jailer candidates touted experience, community service, and training during the recent republican party meet the candidates event in Cadiz.
First to take the podium was former Trigg County Deputy Jailer Troy Belt who used his time to describe his experience at the Kentucky State Penitentiary that included serving as an internal affairs investigator, hostage negotiator, and in several leadership roles including supervisory duties in what he describe as the prison inside the prison.
Incumbent Jailer James Hughes discussed his 18 years of experience in office, always coming under budget, and providing service when needed to transport prisoners.
Hughes said he wants to working as the county jailer, that he says is more than just prisoner transport.
Belt said he wants to provide better training if he is elected jailer.
