In response to the severe winter storm affecting the region, Christian County Public Schools (CCPS) has announced the closure of all schools and facilities from Monday, January 26, through Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
Christian County School Officials say during this period, all CCPS campuses will be, and all games, events, practices, and extracurricular activities are canceled through Wednesday, January 28. Families, students, and staff are encouraged to stay home and avoid travel, allowing highway departments and emergency services to perform their duties effectively.
Inspire Early Learning Center will also be closed through Wednesday.
These days will be designated as Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Days 2, 3, and 4. Students are encouraged to complete NTI assignments if possible. CCPS acknowledges that winter weather, power outages, or other unforeseen circumstances may hinder participation and assures families that schools and staff will be flexible and accommodating. The National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning for Christian County, in effect until 6:00 PM CST on Sunday, January 25. Significant icing is expected, with additional snow and sleet accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations around one-tenth of an inch. Travel conditions are anticipated to be extremely difficult and dangerous. Following the storm, an Extreme Cold Warning is in effect from midnight CST on Monday, January 26, until 10:00 AM CST on Tuesday, January 27, with dangerously cold wind chills as low as 10 to 19 below zero.
