Diane Morris Samples, age 82, of Hopkinsville, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center from natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church in Cerulean, with Rev. Billy Crick officiating, Rev. Phillip Brumfield and Rev. Larry Croft assisting, and burial to follow in Mt. Carmel Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church in Cerulean. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Diane was born in LaFayette, KY, on September 7, 1943, to the late Homer Albert and Erdice Iona Wallace Morris. She worked and retired from Ft Campbell as a Civil Service Employee, where she received a Medal of Honor in her retirement. She was a past president of the Kentucky chapter of ESA and worked diligently as an advocate, raising funds for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Ms. Samples was also a former Phi Theta Kappa officer and was well known as the best wedding cake maker there ever was. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Ricky Ray Morris.
Survivors include her two daughters, Paula Erwin Dossett of Hopkinsville of Rhonda Samples Scott of Hopkinsville; her sister, Lizette Lancaster of Pembroke; her sister-in-law, Sue Morris of Cerulean; her four grandchildren, Dustin Erwin, William Samples, JT Dossett, Sarah Blane Lipford; her eight great grandchildren, Madina Samples, Stephen McNary, Camden Erwin, Bentley Dossett, Jaxon Lipford, Savera Lipford, Dawson Samples, Grayson Samples; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to help cover her funeral expenses.
