Congressman James Comer announced Friday morning that the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2026 includes $1 million in federal funding to improve the municipal water system in Oak Grove.

The funding is part of H.R. 7148, which has passed the U.S. House and now moves to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

Comer led efforts in Congress to secure the funding, which is aimed at strengthening water infrastructure, improving water pressure and ensuring reliable service for current and future residential and commercial users.

Oak Grove Mayor Jackie Oliver thanked Congress and Comer for securing the funding, saying the investment demonstrates “a commitment to the long-term reliability, safety, and capacity of the city’s water system.” Oliver said the improvements will help position Oak Grove and the surrounding region for continued growth, while meeting the needs of residents and businesses.

Christian County Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam also expressed appreciation, saying the funding will strengthen the water system, support future growth, and ensure safe, reliable service throughout the community.

The Oak Grove Water Infrastructure project includes construction of a new 16-inch ductile iron water line across Interstate 24, a 12-inch water main extension along Carneal Lane, and a 500,000-gallon elevated water storage tank.
