A fire at the Hopkinsville Solid Waste facility on Mount Zoar Latham Road was quickly contained on Thursday morning.
Authorities say dirt was used to cover up the fire, and emergency personnel will be on scene for a while to monitor the fire.
There are no reports of injuries, and the fire is believed to have originated from old tires.
