Man Charged With Assaulting A Police Officer In Hopkinsville

A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting a police officer after an incident at the hospital on Tuesday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say 50-year-old Richard Coleman entered the hospital yelling, threatening people, and aggressively approaching hospital staff.

Police say he then removed a 7-inch kitchen knife from his shirt pocket, and when being checked for any other weapons, he resisted arrest and began to fight with officers.

He was arrested and charged with second-degree disorderly conduct, menacing, and third-degree assault of a police officer.
