Christian County Fiscal Court closed its calendar year early Tuesday morning, and by doing so brought further light to some local legislative priorities heading into 2026.
Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam briefly listed them during December’s first meeting, but has since further reiterated his points — which were unanimously approved.
To Frankfort, Washington, D.C., and other funding sources, Gilliam said he would go and take these ideas — hoping to emphatically land with concerned ears.
This includes:
+ Further investment of Commerce Park II.
+ Continued improvements to KY 115.
+ The Oak Grove Water Project through HWEA.
+ The Christian County Water District’s Phase 10 expansion throughout the community, in which Magistrate George Barnett added further context.
+ The renovation of the historic county block of downtown Hopkinsville, including the Alhambra Theatre, courthouse and other trimmings.
+And improvements to Western Hills Municipal Golf Course, particularly its restrooms and public storage.
Gilliam confirmed he and many magistrates will take many visits to Frankfort during this upcoming biennium budget session, while Gilliam himself is headed to the nation’s Capitol in March.
