Eugene Almy, age 90, of Hopkinsville, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, surrounded by his family at Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY of natural causes.
Funeral Services will be at 12:00 Noon on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Chaplain Nick Duvall officiating and burial to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with full military honors. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the service time at 12:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Eugene was born in Hopkinsville, KY, on July 28, 1935, the son of the late George Hart Almy and Nellie Tresch Almy. Eugene graduated from Hopkinsville High School where he was the Co-Captain of the Varsity Football team. After graduation he went on to enlist in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country for over 8 years. Once he finished his enlistment he came home to Hopkinsville and started his career as an Insurance Salesman. He was of the Christian Faith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his five brothers, Ford Almy, James “Red” Almy, Paul Almy, Frank Almy, Thomas Almy; and his two sisters, Christine Webb and Betty Jean Kenney.
Survivors include his daughter, Crystal (Chris) Lyons of Illinois; his two sons, David (Sue) Almy of Georgia, Paul Almy of Illinois; his two brothers, Herbert Almy of Hopkinsville, Charles (Loretta) Almy of Hopkinsville; his five grandchildren, Jessica (Kyle) Sprague, Matthew (Kandice) Lyons, David (Crystal) Almy, Jr., Ryan Almy, Kyle (Candace) Almy; and his eleven great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Hopkinsville Salvation Army.
