A house fire on West Riverwood Drive in Hopkinsville severely damaged the structure and killed several cats Friday night.
Hopkinsville Fire Department Spokesman Captain Payton Rogers says the fire started in the garage and quickly spread to the attic and the rest of the home.
The home doesn’t have as much fire damage as the garage, but it has smoke damage throughout. Rogers says, adding that due to damage and the power being shut off, no one will be able to stay in the home.

Rogers says a rabbit and six cats were found inside the home, and firefighters worked to revive them, but were only able to save the rabbit and one cat.
A Hopkinsville Police officer was credited with getting everyone out of the home after he noticed the fire and called for firefighters.
