Hopkinsville Community College has opened the newly renovated Steve and Diane Thomas S.M.A.R.T. Lab, a two-story, hands-on training space for high-demand technical careers.

The lab is named in honor of Steve and Diane Thomas, whose $400,000 gift is the largest individual donation in the college’s history. The $97,000 renovation was funded through the college’s general project budget, while the Thomas gift will support ongoing program enhancements.

Located in HCC’s Technology Center, the lab features state-of-the-art equipment, supplies, and tools to give students real-world training with current industry technology. It will support programs such as HVAC, Industrial Maintenance, and Electrical Technology.

HCC President Dr. Alissa Young said the gift will help the college better prepare students for successful careers while strengthening workforce partnerships.
