Trigg County Superintendent Dr. Rex Booth confirmed late Friday afternoon that board member Charlene Sheehan has resigned from the district’s Board of Education.

The decision comes more than four months after a group of parents opened a March 28 meeting with concerns about social media behaviors exhibited by Sheehan during a visit to West Cadiz Park — and continued their campaign for her resignation since.

Sheehan is the second resignation in as many weeks, following in the footsteps of former educator and business woman Clara-Beth Hyde — who cited multiple reasons for her choice.

In a written statement, Dr. Booth said he received the letter from Sheehan on Friday, and that the Board will vote to accept both hers, and Hyde’s, resignations at next week’s regularly-scheduled meeting on August 14.

School begins August 13.

Booth said the district is “grateful for Sheehan’s dedication to the students, staff and families of Trigg County,” and that her service “reflected a sincere commitment to public education and the success of [Trigg] schools,” and that they appreciate the time and energy she devoted to the district.

This is a developing story. We will have more when it becomes available.
