Admittedly, current Christian County Sheriff Tyler DeArmond didn’t plan to make an official announcement on his 2026 candidacy this week — and instead was looking at the filing deadline as a time to reflect and recharge.
However, following what he calls “a wave of support and inquiries from community members and local leaders” — and an announcement from Hopkinsville Police Department’s Erik Pacheco — DeArmond confirmed he will seek re-election, and is looking to continue his tenure as one of the community’s top leaders.
DeArmond earned 87.38% of the votes cast in his race. His opponent, former deputy Adam Vanderkolk, had 409 votes, and that November DeArmond earned his second term in office as a Republican with no Democratic challenger.
DeArmond told the News Edge that it’s his job, every day, to make sure his office maintains a “professional, positive” attitude, while remaining active in the community.
DeArmond has served Christian County since 2019, and he wants to continue those efforts.
In a written statement, DeArmond added that he’s seeking re-election because he believes in the people of the county and in the mission of the Sheriff’s Office: “to serve with integrity, responsibility, and heart.”
More details about his 2026 campaign will be shared in the coming months.
