A public meeting will be held Tuesday, May 6, to update the community on plans to improve the US 431 interchange at the Western Kentucky Parkway—Exit 58 in Central City. The project is part of preparations to upgrade the parkway to Interstate 569 (I-569).

The in-person, open house-style meeting runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Madisonville Community College – Muhlenberg Campus, located at 406 W Everly Brothers Blvd.

Residents can drop in at any time to view project displays, speak one-on-one with engineers and planners, and share feedback. Project materials and a public questionnaire will also be available online after the meeting.

Why It Matters

Exit 58 is getting a major overhaul to improve safety, traffic flow, and merging conditions—bringing it up to interstate standards. Two design alternatives are under consideration. Both aim to reduce congestion, weaving, and confusion when entering or exiting the parkway.

The project also includes access improvements along the US 431 commercial corridor, north of the interchange.

What’s Next

Right now, the project is in the environmental review and design phase. That includes traffic studies, road surveys, and coordination with local, state, and federal agencies. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2028.
