Military families had a night of fun and learning at Southern Lanes in Hopkinsville courtesy of the Military Affairs Committee and White's Automall. Some 60 kids and their families were treated to free bowling, food, and lessons with high school bowlers.
MAC Director Shannon Lane says the idea sprouted from his committee members desire to do more.
Students from Heritage Christian Academy, Hopkinsville High School, and Christian County High School were on hand to offer tips to the kids and help teach proper technique. Lane says the event was a success the first time.
Mayor's JR Knight and Jackie Oliver tried their hand at knocking down pins for bragging rights, which Oliver says is a highlight for families, including the moms that work for the city.
Oliver took home the Mayor's Pin.
Lane says Southern Lanes has been a great partner for the event and for the bowling teams.
Christian County High School had two bowlers qualify for state this year, Kane DeGuilio and Christian Lane. The event was one of several planned by MAC to celebrate military children during Month of the Military Child.
