An inch of snow and sleet that fell on the southern Pennyrile Sunday morning left slippery road conditions and resulted in the closure of several churches in the area.
The National Weather Service placed Christian, Trigg, Todd, and Calloway Counties under a Winter Weather Advisory through late Sunday morning after the region received nearly an inch of frozen precipitation from the storm system that was originally forecasted bring several inches of snow. Emergency officials around the area reported slippery road conditions through the morning hours. Slick roads and snow and ice covered parking lots forced a number of closings and cancellations of church services.
Work by local and state transportation crews provided some relief to slick roads, with sunshine expected to continue to help as temperatures rise into the upper 30s.
