HES Makes Significant Progress Restoring Power After Saturday Storm

In addition to significant damage to homes and businesses, a possible tornado that touched down in Hopkinsville Saturday morning also downed numerous power lines and utility poles.

Saturday morning, Hopkinsville Electric General Manager Jeff Hurd estimated about 1,000 customers were without power at that time, but that number grew after the initial assessment. However, he tells the News Edge about 75% of the outages have been restored but added that some areas may not be restored until Sunday.

Although they will continue working through the night to restore the remainder of the power, Hurd recommends anyone still without power go stay with family or friends due to the temperature dropping overnight.

He says you can report any downed power lines by calling their Emergency Dispatch number at (270) 887-4219.
