The Friends of Land Between the Lakes has announced its plans for Halloween at the Woodlands Nature Station.
Set for October 23, visitors can expect a magical event from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. themed “A Hogwarts Howl-O-Ween: Detention with Hagrid” — in what will be a Harry Potter-esque world focusing on multiple natural history programs while twisting in the fantasy world of wizards and witches.
One touch of a portkey will “transport” families to the Forbidden Forest, in order to help Hagrid — a beloved Potter character — to care for his “fantastic beasts.”
Among the many available activities include wand-making, potion-crafting, patronus charm creation, divinations and nature fortune telling, and a tri-wizard tournament practice obstacle course.
There’s also a class schedule in place. At 11 a.m., “Parseltongue 101” will bring snakes up close. At noon, “Messenger Owls” will showcase the nocturnal creatures. At 1 p.m., “Defense Against the Dark Arts” will illuminate how animals use defenses. At 2 p.m., “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” will offer a backyard tour. And at 3 p.m., “Messenger Owls” will be a repeat course on the feathered friends.
All activities are included in the Nature Station admission fees, which are $7 for ages 18 and older, $5 for ages 5-to-17, and free for ages 4 and younger.
