Woman Charged With Assaulting Police Officer 

A Georgia woman was charged after she punched a police officer in Hopkinsville Thursday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped 37-year-old Minerva Matos-Lee who was walking on Pennyrile Parkway and she became aggressive towards law enforcement and tried to choke the officer.

She was reportedly tased two times before being arrested. Police say Matos-Lee was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center and became agitated after asking for water and punch the officer before being tased twice.

She is charged with third-degree assault, menacing, and second-degree strangulation.
