Motorists traveling Interstate 24 and Interstate 69 in Trigg, Lyon, and Livingston counties need to be alert for slow-moving traffic paint striping caravans beginning Saturday.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 1 spokesman Keith Todd says the traffic paint striping truck and three or four support vehicles plan to start in Lyon County Saturday, then move to Trigg County and Livingston County. He adds they will be working in these areas for about the next three to four days.

Todd says the crew will be putting down 6-inch wide traffic stripes along I-24 and I-69, which are designed to improve safety by providing better visibility at night and during rain.

He reminds motorists that retro-reflective traffic paint used on pavement is a special fast-drying formula. However, Todd says it still takes a few minutes to fully dry and motorists should avoid driving across the freshly painted traffic markings.
