The Christian County Health Department released a statement Saturday afternoon asking area churches to take precautions if they decide to host worship services this weekend.
Marketing Specialist Amanda Sweeney says in following with the Commissioner of Public Health’s recommendation, they strongly recommend churches not to hold services this weekend.
If your church holds services, the department offers these tips to stay healthy.
Do not attend if you:
* Have a cough
* Have a low-grade fever
* Are over 60
* Have a serious health condition or compromised immune system
If you do attend:
* Please refrain from shaking hands or hugging.
* Please sit at least 6′ apart and practice social distancing.
* Have alcohol-based hand sanitizer available in bathrooms, kitchen, and lobby of the church.
* Encourage everyone to wash their hands after attending service and before they eat.
*Please wipe down surfaces that are heavily touched (Sunday School rooms, Pews, Chairs, Nursery, Hymn books, Microphones, Bibles, etc.)
*Avoid touching your face
*If communion is being served, have individuals pick up items instead of passing trays.
*Have members drop tithes and offerings into a donation bin at door instead of passing trays.
