The Christ Tabernacle Food Pantry in Princeton is hoping to encourage the community to give back this holiday season by inviting them to participate in a fun and family-centered Holiday Food Pantry Challenge.
Director Missy Gill says that due to an increase in needs throughout the community and a lull in donations they have created the challenge as a way for parents to teach their children about being generous, especially during the holidays.
She adds that the challenge resembles an Advent Calendar but instead of pulling special surprises for yourself, you set aside a certain needed non-perishable food item to later be donated to the food pantry. Items on the daily challenge list include Hamburger Helper, Mac & Cheese, Ramen Noodles, canned vegetables, spaghetti sauce, soup, cereals and more.
Gill notes that the challenge runs from December 1st through 31st with drop off days for collected items to be held on January 3rd and 6th from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM at their location on Highway 62 West.
She states that flyers with the challenge calendars can be picked up at the WPKY studios at 1035 West Main Street, West Market on Highway 62 West, and Cole Lumber on Varmintrace Road.
