A Cheatham County, Tennessee sheriff’s deputy was killed in a crash Friday afternoon.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) reports Deputy Stephen Reece was crossing an intersection near the Montgomery County border when he was hit by a white cargo van traveling south on 41A. They add the driver of the van did not have a stop sign, but Deputy Reece did and it’s unknown if Reece stopped at the sign.
THP says the driver of the van, whose name has not been released, was injured in the crash and transported to the hospital.
News Channel 5 reports Deputy Reece had worked with the department for seven months and previously worked with the Metro Nashville Police Department.
