A Nebraska man was arrested on multiple charges including assault of police officers Sunday morning.
Trigg County Sheriff’s Deputy David Tomlinson said he responded to Boyd Lake Branch Road Saturday night for a report of a subject parked in a female’s driveway. Upon arrival, Tomlinson reports officers made contact with 42-year old Raymundo Guzman of Scribner, Nebraska, who repeatedly asked “why are you gonna shoot me” and stated the ATF had told him to park in the homeowner’s garage. Guzman was asked to leave the property, but Tomlinson later found out he had chased the homeowner.
Later that night, officers were called to a home on Cliffwood Drive where Guzman had reportedly knocked on a door and ran back to his vehicle. Tomlinson said Guzman was later found hiding in bushes next to Highway 272 where he was arrested and admitted to smoking marijuana.
When officers tried to change Guzman’s handcuffs at the sheriff’s office, Tomlinson said he attacked a state trooper and three deputies, tore an officer’s shirt, and destroyed a desk worth around $1,500. Guzman reportedly continued to resist arrest and had to be tased.
Guzman is charged with four counts of 3rd-degree assault of a police officer, two counts of 2nd-degree disorderly conduct, 1st-degree criminal mischief, and public intoxication of a controlled substance.
