A fire on Allegre Road destroyed a large dairy barn killing multiple animals Sunday afternoon.
Todd County Emergency Director Daniel Smith said it’s unknown how many animals may have been killed in the fire adding the barn is a total loss.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. A small kitten found in the barn was given oxygen by Todd County EMS.
Neighbors in the area brought firefighters water and ice, said Smith adding multiple firefighters even himself have been suffering from heat exhaustion.
Allegre Fire Department was assisted by Elkton, Fairview, Sharon Grove, Honey Grove, Clifty, and Allensville fire departments along with Todd County EMS, Todd County Chaplin’s and The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
