The Trigg County War Memorial Committee is asking for the public’s help identifying Gold Star families connected to local service members who died in active-duty service.
Organizers have a memorial flier that lists Trigg County soldiers who were killed in action or died of wounds during World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Iraq War, and there’s hope of honoring the families of those fallen service members during this year’s Memorial Day program at West Cadiz Park on May 25.
The committee is encouraging anyone who recognizes the names or faces on the memorial to contact surviving family members and invite them to attend the ceremony. Family representatives may include spouses, children, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, or cousins.
Organizers say the goal is to recognize and honor the sacrifice made by Trigg County’s Gold Star families and the men and women who gave their lives in military service.
The Memorial Day program will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, May 25, at West Cadiz Park.
