Four members of the Hopkinsville City Council lost their primary races on Tuesday.
In Ward 1, Republican Chance Tatum beat incumbent Vance Smith 23-15. Tatum will face Democrat Sharon Manning in November.
In Ward 3, Republican Don Marsh defeated Ward 2 councilwoman Brandi Stallons 38-24. Stallons had served one term in Ward 2 but moved into the Ward 3 district. Adrian Bruce was unopposed for Stallons’ District 2 seat.
In 2024, Brittanie Bogard defeated Jamie Lynn Lienberger 23-15 to win the Republican primary from Ward 9. Bogard went on to win a first term on council in November.
On Tuesday, Lienberger defeated Brittanie Bogard 32-27 to regain the Republican nomination.
Lienberger will face Democrat Monike Love in November. She won a three-way race with Duane Shepard and Ardell Owens. Love received 95 votes to 67 for Owens and 29 for Shepard.
In Ward 10, Steve Keel defeated Michael Velez 62-42. Two years ago, Velez beat Keel 46-34. Keel will face Democrat Angelita Atkins in November.
There is expected to be six contested races for the 12 seats on city council in November, although the addition of Independent candidates could add to that total.
