DeArmond, Ezell Win Christian County Republican Primaries

Christian County Sheriff Tyler DeArmond will serve a third term after a convincing win in Tuesday’s Republican Primary Election.

DeArmond received 3,902 votes or 88 percent to 503 for Hopkinsville Police Deputy Chief Erik Pacheco.

With the election over, DeArmond says he is looking forward to continuing to protect the people of Christian County.

Amber Ezell got a nearly 2 to 1 margin of victory over Tabatha Strader in the race for Christian County property valuation administrator. Ezell, who has served a chief deputy in the PVA office since 2019, received 2,870 votes to 1,495 for Strader.

Angie Strader announced she would not seek a fifth term to the office earlier this year. She was appointed PVA in 2009 by then-Governor Steve Beshear, following Mills Foster’s retirement.

There were also several races for constable on the primary ballot.

Glenn Rickard defeated Joshua Paul Gydesen 411 to 224 in District 3. Richard Leavell defeated Sherry Byerline 400 to 225 in District 7. Jeff Newton beat Brian Diamond 467 to 211 in District 8.

7,271 registered voters went to the polls in Christian County for a 15.8 percent turnout compared to 11% in May 2022 and 18% in May 2018.
