Christian County Fiscal Court will have three new members when the calendar flips to 2027 following the results of Tuesday’s Republican Primary Election.
Lucas Stagner unseated one-term District 8 magistrate John Bruce by 160 votes. Stagner received 441 votes or 61 percent to Bruce’s 281 votes or 38 percent.
District 8 consists of Life Tabernacle, Crofton Elementary, New Barren Springs, and Concord Baptist Church.
Stagner will be unopposed in the General Election unless an Independent or write-in candidate files by the June deadline.
Austin Crawford won a three-way race in District 5, getting 312 votes to 149 for former Hopkinsville City Councilman Jonathan Zordel. Virginia Hurt-Erxleben received 20 votes.
Crawford will face Democrat Jim Smith in the General Election.
District 5 is the Pennyrile Electric, St. John, Hopkinsville Middle School, and Stadium of Champions precincts.
With Russ Guffey winning the Republican nod for Hopkinsville mayor on Tuesday, District 7 will have a new face on fiscal court.
Todd Morris defeated Dr. John Heltsley by 57 votes, 381 to 295. There is no Democratic challenger in November for District 7, which is consists of Southside Church of Christ, Valor Hall #2, Christian County Ag Extension Office, Bruce Convention Center.
In District 3, Republican incumbent George Barnett defeated Tana Loden with 63 percent of the vote 460 to 265. Barnett will face Democrat Faith Watkins in November.
District 3 consists of the rec department, senior citizens center, Friendship House, New Work Fellowship, Sinking Fork Elementary, and Millbrooke Elementary precincts.
Incumbents Magaline Ferguson, Josh Turner, J.E. Pryor, and Phillip Peterson were unopposed.
