Robert Earl “Rob” Choate, of Cadiz, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2026, at his home, just one day shy of his 57th birthday.
Born in Cadiz, on May 12, 1969, Rob was the youngest of six spirited boys born to Clarence Aubrey Choate and Kathy Turpin Choate, who both preceded him in death.
A 1987 graduate of Trigg County High School, Rob worked for many years in the lumber industry as a skilled lumber grader at McCraw Lumber, Bailey Lumber, and Beshear Sawmill. He also worked for some time as a first mate with AEP Barge Co.
Rob was a member of Liberty Point Baptist Church. He was a huge NASCAR fan, cheering passionately for his favorite driver, Matt Kenseth. He was also a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and friends, and being “Papa Rob” to his granddaughter, Sienna.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Brooklyn & Jake Vaini of Nashville, TN, his granddaughter Sienna Vaini, and his brothers, Charles Choate (Carolyn), Mike Choate, Jeff Choate (Kim), all of Cadiz, Chris Choate (Nicole) of Central City, KY, and Rusty Choate (Elizabeth Thomas) of Cadiz.
Funeral services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz, at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 16, 2026, with Bro. John Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Stewart Cemetery.
Visitation will precede the service at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour of 1:00 PM.
