Hopkinsville could see a more than six percent decrease in its annual budget if the council passes the proposal from Mayor JR Knight.
Mayor Knight gave his annual budget address this morning, saying they were conservative in the decisions made.
The $53.4 million budget is a 6.29% decrease from the current year’s budget, but Knight says it will build on the momentum they have started.
The budget includes a 3% COLA for employees and does not raise taxes.
His budget will be reviewed by the City Council, which will have the chance to make any changes they deem necessary before it passes.
