Traffic Stop Leads To Drug And Weapons Charges

A traffic stop for a turn signal violation led to the discovery of drugs and a gun on Richard Street on Tuesday night.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped a vehicle for a turn signal violation, and during the stop, they could smell the odor of marijuana.

After a search of the vehicle, police say a handgun, marijuana, a digital scale with a white powder on it, and 4 grams of suspected cocaine were found in the passenger side of the vehicle or on the passenger, 34-year-old Jamarvis Allen.

Allen was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana, and first-degree possession of a controlled substance.
