Voters in Trigg County will have a chance to hear directly from candidates ahead of the primary election during a series of forums set for Monday, May 11 — potentially in the Trigg County High School’s Little Theatre.
The forums, hosted by the League of Women Voters of Hopkinsville, will feature contested Republican races for several local offices and will be held in a structured, back-to-back format throughout the evening.
The event begins at 4:00 p.m. with candidates for Magistrate in District 3, followed by District 4 at 4:30 p.m. and District 5 at 5:00 p.m.
At 5:30 p.m., candidates for Christian County Jailer will take part, followed by the Judge-Executive forum at 6:00 p.m. The evening will wrap up with candidates for Sheriff at 6:30 p.m.
Candidates scheduled to participate include Josh Adams and Jon Goodwin in District 3; Greg Goodwin, Trey Lancaster, and John “Rayme” Hopson in District 4; and Jonathan Paul Shemwell and Ricky Clark in District 5.
In countywide races, voters will hear from jailer candidates James E. Hughes and Troy Belt, judge-executive candidates Stan Humphries and Sam Carter, and sheriff candidates Aaron Acree and Mike Sandbrink.
Organizers say the forums are designed to give voters an opportunity to compare candidates and hear their positions ahead of the primary election.
WKDZ and The News Edge will be providing technical support the night of, as well as comprehensive coverage in the days after the forums.
