A New York City man was charged with attempted theft at a bank in Oak Grove on April 10th.
Oak Grove Police say they were called to Navy Federal Bank for 66-year-old John Mendola, who was trying to withdraw $7,500 using a fake identification card and someone else’s debit card.
His real identification card was reportedly found in his belongings, and he claimed he paid someone $500 to get the fake identification card and bank card.
Police say he had several non-extraditable warrants from North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, and Georgia for fraud, identification card theft, forgery, and fraud under false pretense.
He was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and attempted theft by deception.
