Christian County Middle School Teacher Selected for Space STEM Training

Christian County Middle School teacher Amanda Huff has been selected for the nationally competitive LiftOff Summer Institute this summer in Houston, Texas.

Sponsored by the University of Texas Center for Space Research and the Kentucky Space Grant Consortium, the program provides educators with hands-on STEM training in space science and engineering.

This year’s theme is “Moon to Mars: A New Era of Discovery,” focusing on NASA’s Artemis program, future Moon missions, and long-term plans for Mars. During the weeklong institute, Huff will participate in presentations by NASA scientists and engineers, hands-on classroom activities, and career exploration related to space research.

Organizers say teachers selected for LiftOff return to their districts with lesson ideas and materials they can use in the classroom and share with other educators. The program dates back to 1990 and is designed to harness the excitement of space exploration to strengthen STEM learning and inspire students to pursue careers in science and technology.
