An investigation is underway after state police say a lieutenant at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville was stabbed by an inmate last week.
State police say troopers and detectives responded to the penitentiary around 5:00 p.m. Friday after 57-year-old inmate Sean Noakes of Florence stabbed Lieutenant Zabulon Pierre with a sharp object.
Detectives say Lieutenant Pierre was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
According to authorities, Noakes is serving time at the Kentucky State Penitentiary for a murder conviction from Boone County, and during his incarceration at Eddyville, he has been convicted of three additional felony charges related to incidents that took place at the prison.
State police say the investigation is ongoing and will be presented to the Lyon County Grand Jury.
