A man familiar with the Hopkinsville City Council Ward 8 seat will step into the unexpired term of Seth Meek. Tuesday night, City Council heard from four candidates seeking to fill the seat, ultimately choosing Terry Meek.
Meek was elected to the position in 2022 and chose not to seek re-election in 2024.

As part of the process, Meek answered questions along with Kathy Detraz, Steven Mitchell, and Tiffany Pittman. He told council he thinks listening is the most important part of the job.

In other business, the Council voted to approve the second reading of an ordinance closing seven alleyways between West 2nd and West 7th Streets, all on Second Baptist property, as well as the second reading amending the operational budget.
