Road Work Continuing in Trigg, Lyon Counties

Drivers in Trigg and Lyon counties are being advised to use caution as several highway and bridge projects continue across the area, including lane restrictions on I-24 and multiple local road closures tied to infrastructure improvements.

The most significant traffic impact is along I-24 near Exit 45 at KY 293 in Lyon County, where lane restrictions are in place between mile point 45 and 50. A reduced speed limit of 55 miles per hour is in effect through the work zone.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, crews are building a crossover that will allow for a traffic shift expected in late April. The work is part of the first phase of a 10-mile asphalt rehabilitation project that stretches from Exit 45 in Lyon County to Exit 56 in Caldwell County, with the current phase focused initially on the Lyon County side.

The overall project is expected to continue through Nov. 15, 2027. Around late April, traffic is expected to move into a head-to-head pattern on the eastbound side of the interstate while westbound lanes are closed for full-depth paving.

In Trigg County, KY 807, also known as Donaldson Creek Road, remains closed in two separate locations. One closure is at mile point 3.9, west of the South Road, for a bridge replacement project. That work is expected to be completed by the end of March, weather permitting.

A second closure is in place at near Maple Grove Road where crews are replacing a culvert. That project is expected to continue into mid- to late April, depending on weather conditions.

Also in Trigg County, North Tanyard Road is closed between U.S. 68 and KY 272 for a bridge replacement project. The current estimated completion date for that work is around the end of June.
