JMAM Artalk Program

The Janice Mason Art Museum in Cadiz will welcome Kentucky Poet Laureate Kathleen Driskell for a special ARTalk presentation on Thursday, April 16, at 6 p.m.

The event, titled “Making a Writing Life,” will feature Driskell discussing her work as a writer, reading selections from her poetry, and sharing thoughts on how people can build a meaningful writing practice of their own. Museum officials said the program is part of the museum’s ongoing ARTalk series, which brings artists, authors and creative professionals to Cadiz for public presentations.

Driskell is an award-winning poet, essayist and teacher who was appointed Kentucky Poet Laureate for 2025-26 by Gov. Andy Beshear in April 2025. She is the author of six poetry collections, including Goat-Footed Gods, and her work has appeared in national publications such as The New Yorker, The Southern Review and Shenandoah. She also serves as professor of creative writing and chair of the Naslund-Mann Graduate School of Writing at Spalding University in Louisville.

The Janice Mason Art Museum opened in 1998 and recently celebrated more than two decades in operation. It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 until 4 p.m.
