Work Continues to Market and Sell Trigg County Spec Building

Trigg County Judge-Executive Stan Humphries likens the process of filling the spec building in the I-24 Business Park to fishing: you don’t catch something every time you throw your line into the water.

Construction on the 100,000-square-foot building was completed in late 2023, and an undisclosed company signed a letter of intent for the building a year later, only to pivot after the national election.

Since that announcement, work has continued to find a suitor for the building, with the Southwestern Kentucky EDC hosting a 15-minute virtual visit and webinar to digitally showcase the property to potential business suitors.

Last August, SWK EDC Executive Director Carter Hendricks told Trigg County Fiscal Court there were five outstanding “requests for information” regarding the spec building, a formal document and process used by organizations to gather information about potential suppliers’ capabilities, products, and/or services during the procurement process.

Trigg County Judge-Executive Stan Humphries says there have been some recent inquiries about the building.

The building was constructed for $5 million through the Cadiz-Trigg County Economic Development Commission, aided by a $750,000 grant and $500,000 in state funding. Humphries says it’s time for the county to see a return on its investment.

The building site’s potential has been marketed to a wide range of industries, primarily due to its proximity to I-24 and its easy access to other industrial areas in Murray, Hopkinsville, Paducah, and Clarksville.
