The Human Rights Commission Hopkinsville-Christian County will host a Women’s History Month celebration on Thursday at 6 p.m. at The Book & Bottle Shop, recognizing the achievements and contributions of women in the community.
As part of the program, the commission will present its Women Educating Women Scholarship, which is awarded annually to support local students pursuing further education. This year’s finalists include Addison Gilkey, a senior at Christian County High School; Ajae Oatts, a senior at University Heights Academy; and Kaylyn Lynch, a senior at Hopkinsville High School.
Organizers will also announce the recipient of the Fannie B. Postell Woman of the Year Award for 2026, an honor recognizing a woman who has made significant contributions to the community. Last year's winner was Fannie Louise Maddux, the first female member of the Christian County School Board and a longtime education advocate.
Officials say the event is intended to highlight the accomplishments of local women and provide an opportunity for community members to come together in celebration during Women’s History Month.
