
Authorities say a caseworker employed at the Kentucky State Penitentiary has been arrested after an investigation into a report of an inappropriate relationship with an inmate.
According to Kentucky State Police Post 1, they received a call at 3:40 p.m. Monday from the prison in Eddyville advising that security footage showed an employee engaging in sexual intercourse with an inmate. Police say after troopers and a detective responded to the prison and conducted an investigation, the employee was identified as 26-year-old Alysta Mathis of Dawson Springs.
Following their investigation and review of video footage, police say that Mathis was arrested and charged with third-degree rape and third-degree sodomy. She was then transported to the Crittenden County Jail.
The Kentucky State Police investigation is ongoing.
