Trigg County Career and Technical Center students traded the classroom for the job site Saturday morning, applying their skills to the latest project at the Trigg County Veterans Memorial Park.

Students Grant Gallogly, Carson Gresham, and Veyda Reynolds joined CTC Principal Erin Eagleson, agriculture teacher Noah Peake, and memorial committee volunteers to install concrete footings for six new flagpoles at the site. The group spent about an hour on the project ahead of the final work this week for the poles.

Gallogly, a Trigg County High School junior, explained his motivation for joining the project.

Peake added it’s good for their students to explore the real-world application of what they are learning in the classroom.

Committee volunteer Owen Kyler said the flagpoles will be installed in the next week after the concrete settles.

Kyler added that the work is being completed ahead of the third anniversary of the Trigg County HH-60 Blackhawk crash.

The ceremony for the nine soldiers killed in a training accident on March 29, 2023, will be held on Saturday, March 28th, at 10:00 AM. The park is located at 3330 Old Canton Pike in Trigg County.
