Governor Andy Beshear shared updates Thursday on Kentucky’s economic growth, with new investments and expansion projects bringing more jobs to communities across the state, including Western Kentucky.
During his Team Kentucky Update, Governor Beshear reported the state has reached 1,300 expansion projects, generating more than $45 billion in private sector investment and creating 68,000 new jobs.
click to download audioHe added that Kentucky will continue building on this growth in 2026, as the Economic Development Finance Authority approved seven new location and expansion projects for performance-based tax incentives Thursday morning, representing $851 million in potential investment and up to 591 new full-time jobs.
click to download audioBeshear noted these projects are expected to create over 1,100 new jobs for Kentuckians, including opportunities in Western Kentucky.
click to download audioAmong these approved projects, according to Beshear, is an agricultural waste energy facility planned for Carlisle County.
click to download audioHe also said that $13.5 million in state funding has been approved for twelve site and building projects in twelve counties.
click to download audioIt was announced this week that eight Kentucky companies will receive $862,000 in state matching grants to create high-paying jobs and boost the technology sector. The Governor said these funds will partly match $6.6 million in federal grants, supporting businesses advancing fields such as sleep apnea testing, radiation therapy, and solutions for invasive Asian carp.
