Randy D. “Grunt” Masterson, age 72, of Thebes, Illinois, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at his home in Thebes.
Born on February 16, 1953, in Cairo, Illinois, he was the son of the late Dillard Masterson and Lillie Henke Masterson.
Randy was a dedicated ironworker for over 30 years and a proud member of the Ironworkers Local 782 in Paducah, Kentucky.
Randy was an avid reader and a lover of the great outdoors. Known for his captivating storytelling, he had a gift for weaving tales. He was deeply spiritual and took immense pride in his Native American heritage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dillard W. “Speck” Masterson.
Randy is survived by his son, Kris Masterson (Ashley) of Benton, Kentucky, his grandchildren, Sailor Masterson and Dylan Haney, and his sisters, Sherry Dothager (Philip), Joyce Baker (Jerry), Rose Sissom (Mickey), and Pearl Senn (Larry).
There will be no services at this time.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, Kentucky.
