A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting a pregnant woman on East 19th Street in Hopkinsville on Thursday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say they were called for 36-year-old Detrik Sharber, who forced his way into the residence, causing damage to the door frame, pushed his pregnant girlfriend, causing them to fist fight multiple times, then grabbed her by the throat.
A 12-year-old in the home was reportedly struck in the ribs while trying to break up the fight.
Sharber was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault, first-degree burglary, third-degree criminal abuse, second-degree strangulation, and violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO.
