Jimmy Dale “Slim” Waldrop, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, affectionately known by all as “Granddaddy”, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday morning, February 4, 2026, at his home in Christian County following a hard-fought battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Sinking Fork Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Humphries officiating and burial to follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the service hour at 2:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Slim was born in Christian County, KY, on February 3, 1953, the son of the late William Isaac Waldrop and Addie Mae Haley Waldrop. He had retired from Security Seed & Chemical, now known as Nutrien Ag Solutions, as a Crop Consultant and Salesman. Slim was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a loyal friend. After retirement, he took on his role as “Granddaddy” even more and cherished every moment of it. Slim was a true farmer at heart, an avid gardener, and an entrepreneur. He cultivated Granddaddy’s Giving Garden, so his grandchildren can carry on a family tradition.
He was a member of Sinking Fork Baptist Church, and his love for Jesus was evident in how he lived. He was a very loving and passionate man who enjoyed spending time with his family and extended family. He cherished all the wonderful memories created on numerous trips to the Great Smoky Mountains. He also loved being home on the farm and took pride in teaching his son-in-law and grandchildren the value of hard work. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Waldrop, and his sisters, Jeanette Waldrop and Sandra Waldrop Guida.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Belinda Waldrop of Hopkinsville; his daughter, Jill Waldrop (Ryan) Dixon of Hopkinsville; his cherished grandchildren, Colton (Peyton) Waldrop, Kadie Raye (John David) Berry, Clayton Dixon; and his pride and joys his great grandbabies, Preslee Grace Waldrop, Kate Bailey Waldrop, and David Jude Berry; he is also survived by his brothers, Billy (Carol) Waldrop, Jerry (Sarah) Waldrop, Eugene Waldrop all of Hopkinsville, Don (Penny) Waldrop of Benton; his sisters, Judy Waldrop Cartwright and Elaine Waldrop (Joe) Beaulieu both of Hopkinsville; his sister-in-law, Janice Waldrop of Hopkinsville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of his granddaughter, Kadie Raye Berry.
