A great year marked by high graduation rates, along with national recognition for the Hopkinsville-Christian County EMS Paramedic Program.

Hopkinsville Fire Department Spokesman Captain Payton Rogers says the program graduated 92 paramedics, achieved an 83 percent retention rate, and a 100 percent on national registry pass rate among graduates to date.

Rogers says these numbers are virtually unheard of in the paramedic education field. The program has been holding classes for several years, but this last class was the first in our hybrid model and by far the biggest.

The program received recognition from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, stating it meets the highest national standard for EMS education, says Rogers, adding the program is a leader in solving the paramedic shortage, not just in Kentucky but nationwide.

Officials invite the community to an open house on March 13th at Fire Station 5 at 101 Walton Way.
