Mike Stewart, 72, of Gracey

Mike Stewart, beloved husband, father, friend, and top-notch mariner, peacefully “crossed the bar” on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the age of 72.

Born in Murray, KY, on August 4, 1953, to Jo Ann Lamb Stewart and the late James Ray Stewart. Mike dedicated his life to the river; he was a Retired Towboat Captain serving as a dedicated Captain for numerous barge lines. He was best known for his commanding and unwavering spirit. He was highly respected throughout the maritime community. He received a bachelor’s of science in Maritime Transportation.

Mike was an active member of the Buffalo Lick Baptist Church on land and Seamans Church on the river. He was a founding member of the Pilots of Grace. He was a collector of Case Tractors, an avid basketball and football fan, and loved spending time with his dogs and family.

Captain Stewart is survived by his mother, Jo Ann Lamb Stewart, Cadiz, KY; his loving wife of 22 years, Diane Stewart, Gracey, KY; children, Jensen Stewart, Gracey, KY; Jacquelyn Stewart, Gracey, KY; Jamiston Stewart, Cadiz, KY; Destry Sanchez, Cadiz, KY; Roman Cail (Jennifer), Cadiz, KY; brother, Joe Stewart (Dawn), Cadiz, KY; nephews, Joseph Stewart (Samantha), Cadiz, KY; Ragon Stewart, Cadiz, KY; grandchildren, Allen Stewart, Princeton, KY, Jaylen Stewart, Cadiz, KY, Keaton Cail, Cadiz, KY and Braylyn Harper, Cadiz, KY.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at King’s Funeral Home with Brian Morris officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, from 11:00 – 1:00 at King’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Daniel Stewart Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to the Daniel Stewart Cemetery c/o Linda Brashears, 1313 Cerulean Hopkinsville Road, Cerulean, KY 42215.
