Mayor Todd King and officials with the City of Cadiz have declared a “State of Emergency,” unlocking specific powers and capabilities ahead of this weekend’s forecasted winter weather.
King said the maintaining of utilities would be key during this arctic front.
King said those who need travel assistance can contact he and the city, and only true emergencies — especially medical — need to be forwarded to “9-1-1.”
In this executive order:
1) The mayor, or his designee, has the right to take any lawful, appropriate actions necessary to ensure protection of life, property and public safety.
2) Residents are urged to exercise caution, and limit travel during these hazardous conditions, while taking appropriate measures to protect themselves, their families and their property at this time.
3) Transportation on, and access to, local roadways may be restricted or prohibited when necessary — in the interest of public health and safety.
4) All city departments are authorized, and directed, to take appropriate and necessary actions to prepare for, and mitigate, the anticipated impacts of this winter storm emergency.
5) Emergency personnel are authorized to collaborate and coordinate with county, state and/or other emergency response and relief agencies, if only to maintain essential public services.
And 6) Essential personnel are authorized to work extended hours and utilize necessary resources to protect the public and maintain critical services.
